Never seen something like that susan!
There are Tulips which produce more than one flower per stem, T kauffmannia types do it. Having said that, 8 is a bit extreme.
I wonder if it's this one?

I grew a specie tulip this year In pots. Tulipa Turkestanica, it flowered really well, multiple flowers on one stem. Smaller than florist type flowers but lovely, white with a yellow centre, I can recommend it. I don't have a photograph but plenty on line. Hope this helps.
hi bob the gardener....its nearly like the white tulip..but this as got red flashes on it...plus the other bulbs are single headed..x
