Have you, or has a neighbour of yours, been out with the weedkiller on a windy day?

If not, are the plants in an area where dew could have been caught in bright morning sunshine? (not likely today, I know!)

Not to my knowledge to answer you first question.  And the sun doesn't hit that area until 11am in the garden - when it does come out that is (Central Scotland).  I have a blackcurrant growing not too far from my raspberry (4 ft away), same side of the garden but it doesn't have the same markings.

Could the wind have been blowing the leaves about? They look scorched or damaged by abrasion. I don't think it's anything to worry about. If the new leaves are pretty and undamaged then the plant will be fine.

Yeah the new leaves all seem fine - I've popped a fine mesh around it since the markings appeared so will keep an eye on the new stuff.  Thanks for your posts.
