I HAVE  DAHLIAS IN MY GARDEN I HAVE NEVER LIFTED THEM THEY HAVE BEEN IN THE GROUND FOR FIVE YEARS AND THEY ARE BEAUTYFULL MY QUESTION IS SHOULD I CUT THEM BACK BEFORE THE FROST , BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL IN BLOOM.

    No- leave them until the frost has blackened the tops-there is absolutely no need to cut them back before then-enjoy your flowers

    You are lucky to have got away with leaving them in the ground that long without them rotting or the frost getting to them-does prove they don't always need lifting
