dwarf peach tree from homebase
Hi peeps. Approx 3 weeks ago i bought a hardy dwarf patio peach from homebase. It was only when i got home and planted it in a pot i thought it should be starting to show some leaf. To date there is no sign of any leafs erupting from this poor soul although its alive (green underneath when i scratch the stem). I think this may have been had by early frosts when it was still in the store or wherever it was born. Is it likely to come into leaf or should i take it back

I would take it back. If it has been frosted and lost its leaves it will struggle to put out fresh ones because it is so young, and if it wasn't frosted it's got too dry. In either case it's sub-standard, and you deserve better for your money.
Thanks for your reply Alina. I took your advice and rang them up. Theyre happy to take it back but said it may give it a kick start if i bring it indoors for a week or so. I will try that and if there is no improvement i will return it
What happened with your peach tree ? I bought one from homebase a short while back now (not patio - it's about 7ft tall), and took a chance planting it out in the ground. I'm in NE Scotland !!! same as you , the stem is green underneath, and when planted I trimmed the dead and twiggy bits of stem off, but so far no life whatsoever. Very disappointing. Though I remain ever hopeful, as the fruit trees were just 2 for £20 quid, and the plum is going great guns, buds all over the stems fit to burst ......
Hi Kezza,I brought it inside a few days ago and am currently waiting for signs of life
. However if no improvement in a couple of weeks it is going back to the store. Maybe these peach trees need a lot of sun to get them going and unfortunately thats something we r lacking at the moment. I also got a little patio cherry and thats covered in leaves but as i say its a different beast altogether
Thanks for the update ! I'll wait a while longer with my peach tree, as an apple I have in the garden has only just opened it's blossom, whilst the one already established on the ground behind my home has been blossoming for weeks. And a pear tree already here has blossomed and now has fruit the size of large peas, whilst a pear tree I brought with me has only leafed up and no blossom, totally confusing. I think maybe the peach I have is getting a complex as I check it every day
Fingers crossed !
