Venus Fly Trap

in Plants
Hi everyone My mum came round this evening and gave me a Venus fly trap grow kit she picked up. The instructions are very slim and they don't even tell you to water them with rain water. What is the best way to germinate them? Can I germinate them in the dark if it is warm? Can I use bottled spring water to water them?

you need to find a book on the subject that's the best thing to do .
flowering rose I don't like to spend money for information I can get for free. I was thinking that someone on here may have had experience in growing them. I've done my first batch with rain water and put them in the warmest spot in the house.
Lots of info on the net - see here, and several other places

hi Christopher
I have three Venus Fly Traps, there is a very good company in Hampshire
http://www.hantsflytrap.com/ where are get mine from, the small ones are reasonable priced and they have won awards at Chelsea. They are easy to look after, best to use rain water and let them trap they own food. They is a good book called, 'Growing Carnivorous Plants' by Barry.A. Rice.
I would not bother with seeds, when you can get them for £5. Oh! and don't let them flower, it weakens them. Hope that helps.
