Twigs from lidl.....what are they?

Hi , a neighbour brought these round to me. She bought them at lidl for an Easter display and they have grown roots. Any body any idea what they are? If I plant them will they take over the place?

If they root so easily they are willows.  They are sold as room decorations, I think.  I don't imagine they are supposed to be put in water.

They could be willow. It roots very easily. Have a look at this link  http://rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=588  you can make arbours etc with it.

I'd need a closer look at the leaves but willow is something that would do that

  • Looks like Twisted willow altho I cannot tell the real shape of the leaves on the photo.

Grows into a very large tree eventually.

    Probably corkscrew willow - http://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/details?plantid=1742

The branches are often sold for dried decorations indoors - being willow, if in a moist environment they'll grow.

  • Thanks everyone. I had a feeling it must be willow. I won't be planting it but I hate to see something go to waste
