problem with damson tree

i moved into my present house last july and inherited a damson tree which is quite a few years old,last year it was full of fruit when i moved in,but today i've notived the leaves and blossom have all started dying off,they've turned a browny black and have curled up,a couple of weeks ago it was fine and blossoming well.

any ideas on what i should do?
