Lifting Peonies

I have a slight problem!

I have amassed quite a collection of peonies over the last 5 years, about 12 different varieties. They are growing well and have plenty of flower buds and should be stunning this year.

Turns out that it is likely that I will be selling my current home in the next few months, but not moving into my new home till the beginning of next year (moving to a flat temporarily).

Given this, do you think it would be possible to lift my peonies after flowering and temporarily re plant them at the allotment.

I appreciate that it is not a sensible time of year to be doing this. But I am loathed to leave them behind!
