Black Velvet Petunia

Your message does not appear but it is something do with the leaves turning black?

Probably a fungal problem.

    Any chance of a photo?

  • Thanks for the feedback and how bizarre that my initial message has disappeared!

The photo below show the 6 black velvet petunia plugs I planted in these 2 identical pots which contain the same compost. The pot on the left contains the plugs which appear to be dying (black leaves!). The pot on the right seems unaffected.

Both pots have been in the greenhouse for most of the two weeks since I planted them.

Below is a close up of the affected plugs.

Any idea why this is happening and if there is some way of me saving them?

The slugs have been at them- and looking at you picture it looks as though it might just be the effect of chilling-have you had cold nights where you are?

  • Pesky slugs! Yes, we have had the odd frost or two here in sunny Croydon but I thought I had managed to protect them by moving them to the greenhouse - obviously not soon enough!

One of the three plugs looks salvagable but am not sure about the other two. Thanks again.
