weed seedlings

My new borders are sown, and lots of little seedlings are popping up..... as are lots of little weeds i suspect. My seeds were sown in loose drifts so some of them i can identify, but as a newbie, im afraid to start weeding and instead end up pulling up all my little flowers to be! am i ok to leave them for a week or 2, until i can tell the difference more easily, or will leaving the weeds mean my seedlings suffer? As a 2014 gardening newbie, im not great at weed id unless they are the obvious!

Have you got a list of the types of seeds you've sown, together with anything that grew there last year that might have self-seeded and that you'd like to keep?

When the seedlings have started developing some proper leaves, rather than just the two seed leaves, show us some photos and give us the list, and we'll see if we can identify the goodies from the baddies - but no guarantees givenimage

  • nothing grew there last year, it was just grass... the garden is new to me. I think that will all my manure adding & soil turning, ive awakened every weed that ever grew there, they are sprouting up everywhere, ive pulled out a few docks, and im all over the couch grass, but the others, im not sure of!

...and there will be some weeds in with the manure, but Dove is right; let things develop for a while; even experienced gardeners would not be able to identify a lot of things at 5mm tallimage
