Cherry trees
I have a fully grown cherry tree with a weeping habit and several smaller, younger trees. The summer before last I noticed that the trees had holes on their leaves. They appeared late spring/early summer time. I couldn't see anything on the trees but the holes spread all over. Last summer it was the same but this time I noticed a couple of tiny, black slug like things on the leaves - larvae ?? Could anyone tell me what this is likely to be please and how to stop it happening this year.?

Thank you for the link,
I wonder if my trees are suffering the effects of winter moth catapillars, the symptoms mentioned sound very similar to the holes in my cherry tree leaves. Although I have not seen any catapillars on teh trees just those small black slug like things. Can I use any kind of grease to put on the trunks ? I have a tub of multi purpose grease ??
Sorry, outside my experience Hartleyhare - hopefully someone else will be by in a little while
