Im planning to stick to trailing petunias, trailing lobelia and trailing verbena for my window boxes (although any suggestions are gratefully recieved!) Im just wondering if there is a special tip / food / fertaliser that i should use to get that extra OOMPH from them...
Until now, ive just used FBB, and manure, but im being both tempted and totally confused by all the products on the market promising to give me the best blooms ever... con or cure?

You need to add some height to your baskets, all trailing plants could look a bit flat. Try an upright fuchsia in the middle or geranium. I feed mine with a tomato plant feed, but anything with high potash content will do. That brings more flowers on your plants. Be ruthless with the dead heading and they will keep blooming. They dry out very quicly in the warm weather so be prepared to water early morning and again at night.
I have attached a photo of mine from last year, all home grown from seed.except the fuchsia, that was a cutting.
I've mentioned this before but I put a cheap disposable babies nappy in the bottom of tubs and hanging baskets. They have some sort of water retaining crystals in and can't be harmful if used for babies. I pull the nappy open before I put it in the basket and seems to work really well. It works out cheaper than the crystals bought for the purpose in garden centres.
