Agapanthus versus Dandelion

tattiannatattianna Posts: 182

After sorting out my pots today I noticed and big dandelion right in the middle of my agapanthus. I tried easing it out but it's not budging.

In the past when this has happened I have put a plastic bag over the weed and carefully sprayed it with weed killer (the one that goes straight to the root but the name escapes me at the minute) then tied the bag securely around the weed and hey presto after a while the weed is dead! However I have never done this with my pots.

Do you think it would work or am I risking loosing the plant too? Any other suggestions would be gratefully received. Thank you

People often recommend that when a weed is too close to a much loved plant to dig out/ use weed killer, just snip it off at ground level every time it appears.

If you use glyphosate and keep it off the agapanthus you'll be OK. Mine has Campanula trachelium in it. I shall have to do something similar though I may use a paintbrush and the gel version of glyphosate
