Trilliums

I was given some trillium rhizomes in early autumn last year (T. erectum and T. grandiflorum I think).  I didn't have any ground ready to put them in, so potted them up in pots of compost. I know that they don't grow well in pots, but didnnt have any choice at that point.

There is no sign of them yet. Should I be seeing shoots yet? Or are they doomed?

I haven't dared have a poked yet. I'm in North Yorkshire.

    Hi PP., I bought some rhizomes last autumn, and the shoots have just started to appear, in not so sunny South Yorkshire. I dont think I would worry yet.

    OK. Will try and be patient. If they have survived, I think i need to find some way of chicken proofing them from next doors chucks. 

    I'm thinking cheap wire hanging baskets as a cloche to let them get going.

    I bought one of the dark flowered ones last year, and up to now I have a bare pot, glad to know there's still time, also in North Yorkshire.
