Think it's one of the orb web spiders - not a False Widow if that's what you were concerned about.
If you don't like it being in your bath, and it's not a good place for a spider to be 'cos they can't get out, place a tumbler over it and slide a piece of card under it and lift it up, holding the card firmly to the opening of the tumbler - take it to the end of the garden and set it free

Thanks for this thread. I've been seeing a lot of these in my porchway at home (and one in the house the other day) and steering well clear thinking they were some real nasties. I can't keep up with home much their is to learn when you live in a rural area, in particular which beasties you need to be afraid of and which you dont. If only I wasn't such a total wimp when it comes to anything creepy crawly and anything winged it would be so much easier!

Got him safely out of the path and deposited him down the bottom of the garden
