A friend has given me one of these after I admired hers last year. On searching for info on how to grow, I see several sites that call it 'very invasive', so I'm not sure where to put it. Has anyone out there had problems with one of these?

It is what I would describe as a vigorous self clinging climber, that will grow to around 20 feet up and nearly as wide, great for pergolas and arches, or in my case a warm south facing wall. It has aerial roots, a bit like climbing hydrangea and ivy. Mine is the cultivar 'Indian Summer', and in three years has not got beyond around 8 feet tall. It needs a warm spot to flower well.
I have had one of these in my garden for a few years. It's on an east facing wall and I find it quite well behaved - I keep it to about 6 ft tall and it is currently about 10 ft wide although I am hoping it will spread a bit more. It is a good plant for the future if the water shortages should get worse as once established it does not need to be watered.
