Is now the time to move a rose?
Hi can anybody terll me if now ( feb 2014) is a good time to move a rose? Our garden was damaged in the strong winds and I took it as an opportunity to relandscape it. Now I would like to move a rose but not sure if I can. The ground is good, not overly wet and the soil is good.
Thanks

hi Dave how about this from District. Org

...I agree with much of the advice in the link above, however I would suggest that it's more for experienced rose gardeners who are willing to take the time and trouble... for Dave1962 here, the short answer is 'Yes', move it now or any time over the next 3 weeks or so... it will be fine for you...
I've just bought some bare rooted roses from the pound shop and planted them, so I down see why you can't move one as long as the ground isn't waterlogged. I always put a banana skin in the hole when I move a rose, something to do with potassium! Good luck.
Yeah, if you're going to move it do it now, don't forget spring is early this year so don't delay.
Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question. I will be moving my rose later today. And feel confident in doing so. Once again. Thank You.
Yes Annie bananas are high in potassium , a good thing for people who tend to get cramp, scuba divers often eat them regularly, i often keep a skin in a bottle overnight or a couple of days shaken well, its used for a quick pick me up for plants not doing too well, just a short term help,it works for me, i got the tip a couple of years ago on here, aspirin works as well, To me if the time is right for planting trees or roses then they must have just been moved so its probably right to do it now.
