Transplanting a non flowering Magnolia ??
in Talkback
Good morning gardeners.
Just a little advice needed from some more experienced gardeners out there.
I have a Magnolia Grandiflora which was bought and planted about 5 years ago in a clay soil with sunlight until 11.am. It doesn't appear to have grown that much and has never flowered, althought it does look healthy. I was wondering if it would help if i were to transplant it to a full sun position and whether moving it will harm it at all ? I am aware it might be too young to flower in
which case i could leave it alone.
Thank all.

Hi
I garden in clayey soil. Every spring and early autumn I give my magnolias a mulch of ericaceous compost. They are very young ones - 2 have buds but the one like yours is healthy but no flowers, I have read that some take a few years to flower
This last week I popped a helping of bonemeal and then mulched them as I said above.
hope this helps.
I am not experience enough to know about moving it. Sorry I can't help there.
