The first one I've seen this year - 2014

I thought it would be interesting to record the first sightings of  wildlife as they make their appearances in the spring - if we also say whereabouts in the country we are we can compare different areas, and we can also do this in following years and compare the years as well.

Today in Norfolk I saw a Queen Wasp scouting around the garden in the first proper sunshine we've had for a while.  The temperature in the shade didn't get above 9.4C today but it must've been much warmer in the sunshine and she's woken up and is ready to find a nest site.

One very tiny ladybird on the conservatory windowsill. Now re-located to a pot of lillies. I'm in the bad books because OH says it was having a warm.

This happened last year LB's really early and then very few after the cold spring.

A pair of moorhen on our pond. We've only had a lonely singleton for years now. I look forward to the black cotton-wool balls of babiesimage
