    LOL Fairy, so when you go 'independent' does that mean you keep all your flies and midges too image



    I think I will give the SSS (as my mum used to call it!) a try, I'd rather smell sickly sweet than be covered in red lumps and sickly sweet is better than insect repellent smell which I don't particularly like!!

    if you don't want to cover yourself with nasty chemicals try 'Highland Midge Lotion' from MaryJean, I got some for when we went to Scotland last August. I don't know whether there were a lot of flies around, but I didn't get nibbled on.

    Thanks Mike, yes I have, I just hate the smell of them and would like to try something more natural....I don't feel like spending my summer 'stinking'.



    I like the joke by the way...imagine me gardening in a hairnet LOL!!

    A 'butch' guy at work always uses Avon Skin So Soft (original) when he does outdoorsy things and never got bitten once when in Scotland last year and I have heard from so many people that it does work.
