suitable plants for a middle sized put

I have two medium sized pots in a slightly shady part of my garden and would like to know if I could plant a bamboo - I need height to block an unsightly view. What would you suggest.

How about Runner Beans ?? (early so protect !) ..OR another such like !? ..& ..Quick ! gives you time to grow another type of screen !
