Pampas Grass

What shpuld I do withthe pampas grass. I know that it should not be burnt down. I leave mine and try to pull out the old "leaves". I have heard that you should cut it down to the ground. Any ideas and (relevant) suggestions.

Personally I found that burning it actually made it grow better! BUT you must choose a windless day, damp down surrounding areas first and have a hosepipe on hand incase it gets out of hand. Mine went up in seconds and the heat coming off it was amazing. That said, a few months later and the plant was growing again but in a much tidier way than before. I tend to burn mine every 2 years to get rid of the old growth.
