Ornamental grass seed?

LeadFarmerLeadFarmer Posts: 851

I'm looking at laying a nice ornamental/bowling green lawn in my garden and was wondering if anyone could recommend any seed specialists to buy from?

I accept this type of lawn is higher maintenance, but I'm prepared for that  I'm spending the next few weeks researching and then getting the soil prepared. I've even bought a nice cylinder mower in advance.

Any tips/advice great fully received.

Thanks Verdun. Maybe I should consider a lawn like yours, less ornamental but still looking great. My initial plan was to turf it, I've laid Rowlawn turf before with good results. Like I mentioned, I'm doing my research now before I start the ground prep.

Hi leadfarmer, am in a similar position myself right now, not sure if i will grow a lawn without ryegrass or not.

How did your lawn turn out using the fine grasses and how much work is really involved maintaining it?

Im concerned if the fine grasses are neglected at all they would look worse than a decent lawn containing dwarf rye.
