Lilly Help

Hi All

to cut a long story short, towards the end of last summer when the lilies finished flowering, I moved it in it's pot and by accident snapped the steam off!

I know you are supposed to wait until it turns black before cutting the steam, will this accidental decapitation affect it for this year?

Well it would need it's stem and leaves  to build up the bulb/tuber  for the next season so it depends on how  long it had its stem for. I'm sure it will grow again it  might just be smaller.  I feed my lilies and for that matter spring bulbs and dahlias with tomato food from mid summer....Jean

I should think so but as Bilje say's it does need the stem and leaves to build up the bulb but if the stem came off easily it could be the bulb had taken in sufficient stuff from the stem.

  • OK, thanks for that, I'll just have to wait and see.
