Does the team think that moving bulbs in the green will be OK for sternbergia and colchicum?.

No experience of sternbergia nut but I'd have thought colchicums would be ok. Surely no real difference from snowdrops in terms of moving?

  • I move bulbs even in flower (except deeply planted ones like tulips) nut, but I dig a whole clod of earth out with the bulbs inside.  Seems to work ok. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

You're right Bob. I shoved snowdrops into a new, narrow border in the back garden in November when the shoots were poking through and they're looking great, despite my clumsiness in forcing them into a tiny space among the other new plants! image

Thanks Bob and Fairy, they're both disappearing under large shrubs. I'll lose them if I don't shift them soon
