Hardwood cuttings now. It may grow from soft wood cuttings but I've never tried it.

Mine sends out suckers a about 6 inch from the original plants. I cut them off with a sharp spade and replant.

You don't stop doing new things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing new things. <3

Mine sends out suckers that are right up against the parent and I can't get them out, making a very tight bush and difficulty pruning out the old stems.

That may be due to the high brick and concrete content of my soil

Will give it a go this weekend - love plants for free!

We did not inherit the earth from our grandparents.  We’re borrowing it from our children.

Mine's too upright to self layer, I'll give it some helpimage

  • Thanx all. Haven't got a parent plant myself so hardwood cuttings will suit me better. Wish me luck!

I'm sure you'll do fine HBimage

  • Was tidying up my aunt's borders yesterday and guess what was lurking behind the shed - yup, in all it's fragrant glory.  So have a couple of layers on the go ????
