Huh!  Our birds are nowhere to be seen today, feeders almost untouched and windfall apples not eaten, same for wild bird seed for groundfeeders.  Think they've all gone to try the new take aways that will only be here for a couple of days.

They take us for granted KEF image  I've put some rolled oats out there for the ground feeders, but no one's been interested today image

Just had one robin. She / he is now my favourite and will in future get priority treatment the rest get a la carte meals.

I'm doing the bird count again this year, but am getting a bit fed up with both snail mail and emails from RSPB, which mainly seem aimed at me buying overpriced bird feeders and food.image If they are so desperate for cash, why are they posting me stuff when they have my email address? Also they rang me asking if I wanted to join for £6.00 per month. When I said 'you must be joking', the price immediately dropped to £3.00 per month!

  • Yes I get very annoyed with all the mail coming through the door, we are members of RSPB and I don't like the money we pay each year wasted on this sort of thing. image

The weather lots awful for down here in North Somerset and the Somerset levels are on amber flood alert again!

I shall be doing the great bird watch as I do every year and looking forward to it as usual!

  • Having an hour or so spare today (OH at dentist), I got on with making a supply of "Fruit & nut Chappaties" ready for this w/e Birdcount. Saturday looks favourite re: wet weather & high winds for Sunday, so as soon as it stops raining I'll get everything 'topped up' and ready for my welcome guests. Not forgetting Thermos flask etc for myself (I hide in the greenhouse which affords a good all-round view of the umpteen feeders in the modest garden).
