Huh! Our birds are nowhere to be seen today, feeders almost untouched and windfall apples not eaten, same for wild bird seed for groundfeeders. Think they've all gone to try the new take aways that will only be here for a couple of days.
Said in a a huffy voice " Who goes out in her dressing gown to break the ice of your water in winter? "
I'm doing the bird count again this year, but am getting a bit fed up with both snail mail and emails from RSPB, which mainly seem aimed at me buying overpriced bird feeders and food. If they are so desperate for cash, why are they posting me stuff when they have my email address? Also they rang me asking if I wanted to join for £6.00 per month. When I said 'you must be joking', the price immediately dropped to £3.00 per month!
Yes I get very annoyed with all the mail coming through the door, we are members of RSPB and I don't like the money we pay each year wasted on this sort of thing.
Having an hour or so spare today (OH at dentist), I got on with making a supply of "Fruit & nut Chappaties" ready for this w/e Birdcount. Saturday looks favourite re: wet weather & high winds for Sunday, so as soon as it stops raining I'll get everything 'topped up' and ready for my welcome guests. Not forgetting Thermos flask etc for myself (I hide in the greenhouse which affords a good all-round view of the umpteen feeders in the modest garden).
