Four O Clock Flowers
in Plants
Hi friends,
I have a four O clock plant (flower are pink in color). Plant is fine and blooming but problem is that each and every flower only bloom for only 1 night. On next day (after blooming) flower closes and its opening part become black. After appearing black color flower dropped down by the plant.
Kindly help me friends, is this okay! Do four O clock flowers have only 1 day life?
Further, my plant is 1 and half year old.
Waiting for your valuable replies.

Hi, I've not grown the Four O'clock plant, but my understanding is that they only flower in the evening and overnight and die in the morning. Short but sweet.

This plant, Mirabilis, is called "Belle de Nuit", Beauty of the Night, in France where I live. It's grown quite commonly here. It doesn't like being cold and wet in winter. I have a friend who has a huge one in a pot on her terrace, which she protects in winter. It has so many flowers on it that it doesn't matter if they only last a day, it just makes more.
If this is Mirablils jalapa, the flowers don't last long but there are a lot of them. I love the scent but they're not very striking visually.
Have you got it inside Safeer? I've only had one plant go through a mild winter.
