Here I am complaining again.

On Friday we had freezing rain, today (Sat.) another day of freezing rain. And now the worst freezing rain storm in decades will come tomorrow. That means that Birch trees and other soft wood trees will bend until the main trunk snaps or the top of the trees will be on the ground. This storm is covering all of Ontario and the north eastern U.S.  I will only go out tomorrow to spread snow melt on my icy walks.

As Dove says, keep safe & warm.

Anyone walking about in that is going to be expecting it to be slippery - I'd stay indoors and do the pathways when the ice storm has abated a bit!

  • gives us less to complain about here in UK!

don't want to make you envious, but todays sunshine gave me the chance to clear a bit more rotting fruit from the flower beds - mind you it's not very warm!

  • Brrrrrrrrr, sounds very chilly there Bill, we have had a very nice day here in Kent (UK) nice and sunny, i would have taken a picture for you but it's a bit to late now as the sun is going down.

Hope it warms up for you soon!

  • How I wish I could post my pictures on here.It is absolutely wicked outside, the ice coating is 1/2 an inch thick on everything. My Birch in front of my house is bent to the ground. In the back yard the neighbors have 40 foot chinese elms (I hate them) and most of their branches have broken off, with one large branch in my yard.Like the weatherman said this is the worst storm in decades.I would say in at  least 8 decades.I am lucky though just 30 feet west the power grid is off for many blocks west. Its raining and when it hits the ground if freezes. So how many people have I convinced to come to Canada?

    I'll stay here Bill.

My mum emigrated to Canada as a child. She and her parents were back 2 years later. Perhaps they couldn't take it.

  • Did I say the power grids off for many blocks,I should have said many Km/miles. hundreds of thousands have been without power since 10 pm last night, some wont get their power back on until Christmas morning.

Nutcutlet in those days it all depended where you went in Canada.

It sounds horrible Bill.  I hope your power stays on though.  Batten down the hatches and keep warm.
