Hello
My red hot poker large orange flowers in the summer months, at the base of the stem has a lot of as i can only describe as slime. which i presume is plant rot, where water has got in over the winter. they are planted on a very exposed bank
When i have tried to clear cut out it looks like it has gone into the core of the plant, which looks like a whole in the centre where the plant has snapped of.
The whole plant is not looking healthy, should i dig up and divide getting rid of anything that i think does look good, and replant.
Any other suggestions most welcome.

You need to cut out anything that is mushy to where it starts to be turgid. That will hopefully stop the rot. I would add some drainage around where the plant is to avoid it happening again.
