Possible spawn in my pond

Hello,

I have just discovered some kind of spawn in my pond, it doesn;t have obvious egg-like bubbles in it and seems to be mingled in with the pond weed. Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks!

Sam

  • could still be frog spawn as it can be mingled in when just laid but is usually in a mass, whilst toad  spawn tends to be in strings so could be that. try looking up images of both types on google images.

  • I live just outside Portsmouth and counted up to 50 frogs in my garden pond with loads of big patches of frog spawn its been there about a week now its not a huge pond  sbout 8x10  but to get to the point isnt this very early for frog spawn.

  • image We live in the Portsmouth area and came across a couple of mating frogs in our tiny barrel pond,..... I do believe this to be early.

  • My garden diary says my pond had first frog spawn on the 26th feb last year! May not survive but it shows they think it's warm enough.
