Flowers on the Venus Fly Trap

Hi, I do we have a while to Spring, but I have to ask these questions when I think of them. Some people say that you should remove the flower on a Venus Fly Trap. This is the first Spring I have had mine and I just want to see what the flower looks like.
What happens to the fly trap if I do let it flower?

I don't grow these so this is a general comment.
Flowering then seeding is what plants do so it won't hurt it.
It will put its energy into flowering at the expense of leaf development. Leaves are what you want with this plant so I can see why some people chop off the flowers.

As nut says it won't do the plant any harm, I used to grow them and they'd usually flower with no ill effects, I'm sure you know what the flower looks like, it's interesting but not very showy but then that is exactly the kind of flowers I go for. I never cut mine off, it never occurred to me, it was a little bonus as far as I was concerned.

We let ours flower all the time and it is very happy. It is inside, so it never got pollinated and threw up several flower spikes over about 5 months during this last, long summer. We did not notice any change in the behavior of the plant, the rate of growth and die back of the little chompy bits (I believe that is the technical name) has been the same. We also let another of our carnivorous plants flower, a sun dew, and it is also happy and healthy.
I suggest an internet image search and you'll see what the flowers look like. Our venus fly trap put up white flowers softly tinged with pink, and the sun dew put up small pink trumpets.
thanks Amy, I'll let it flower. I kept mine in the greenhouse during the summer, on active service. Its inside the garage on the windowsill now. All is well. I think I'll get some more next year.
Yeah, a google images search shows them to be white, I remember mine being pink too, more like this,
