Clematis identificationn and pruning group ?

Hi All

Now the winter is setting in i need to keep my gardening bug alive so thought i would join and see what tips and help i cam pick up ready for next year.

My question today is regarding this clematis that i have inherited in our back garden. I am not sure of type and would like to know whether i have to cut it to the ground or just leave it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Can you remember which months it flowered?  If so, you could use this site to identify your clematis - enter colour and flowering period and see what you get - http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemlistsearch.cfm

It will then give you the pruning group which you can then look up on the same site.

Hello, cyberstretch. This is a site I've found useful. http://www.taylorsclematis.co.uk/
