Do I trim the broccolli?
in Fruit & veg
My broccolli plants had a fare amount of caterpillar nibbling in late summer , and have a lot of very bare lower leaves , although the centres have recovered a little , with nice new growth. Would it be of any benefit to the plant, to take off these lower stripped leaves?

Not really in my opinion - only if they're showing signs of any rot would I remove them. Just make sure the pigeons keep off them now, and stake them if you're in a windy spot. Broccoli is amazingly resilient, you'll get a crop even if it's a little later than in some years.
many thanks for that advice, Its a great help on here, someone always has an answer!!
