camellia

I have what I thought was a camellia in my new garden but the flowers buds certainly don't look camellia-like (see photo). Wondering if anyone knows what it is?

thanks

  • Hi zebrina,  That looks more like some form of laurel to me.  Must say the leaves don't look all that healthy if it is a laurel.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

  • A stressed photinia?

  • I think you're right Daintiness - that would explain the leaf colour too. image

  • thanks all

  • Defo a Photinia - those flowers should come in white. The yellowing leaves are a sign of nutrient stress, normally lack of nitrogen. A weak nitrogen feed would help it ticking along till spring.

  • thanks, yes I think it's the Photinia Fraseri isn't it?
