I have what I thought was a camellia in my new garden but the flowers buds certainly don't look camellia-like (see photo). Wondering if anyone knows what it is?
Defo a Photinia - those flowers should come in white. The yellowing leaves are a sign of nutrient stress, normally lack of nitrogen. A weak nitrogen feed would help it ticking along till spring.

Hi zebrina, That looks more like some form of laurel to me. Must say the leaves don't look all that healthy if it is a laurel.
Magnolia grandiflora has leaves and a lax habit like that .

A stressed photinia?
I think you're right Daintiness - that would explain the leaf colour too.
thanks all
