grape vine roots
in Talkback
A new but old house to me. Small narrow border 10/12" wide next to my house wall , south flacing ! Too good not to use !
Would like to grow a Black grape for wine making, Any experience re . root problems and house foundation concerns ? Thanks in anticipation and the odd glass or three !
Howard.

I grew up in a 16th century farmhouse made of soft Suffolk brick and very very old timber beams - we had two venerable grapevines covering the front of the house, they'd been there for years and years. Sometimes shoots from a rose bush would worm their way between bricks and beams and find their way into the inside of the house, as did ground elder and bindweed. I was never aware of any damage done to the structure of the house by the grapevines in all the years I lived there.
Good idea - I'd go for it - good luck
