Climbing plants

DoofyDoofy Posts: 1

I'm looking for ideas on which climbing plants will grow well in a tub. We want to grow some up our house, but there is a path all around it, so we can't plant directly into the ground.

Thanks in advance!!!

  • Clematis grow well in pots and there's loads to choose from. Also different clematis like different aspects so you can have different ones for different north/south facing etc. They do like their roots in the shade so you could put small plants in the pot to help shade them, like pansies  some climbing roses can be pot grown too.

Get the drainage right whatever you grow and make sure they're lifted off the grownd so the water can actually drain out or you'll end up with a pond no matter how much rubble and gravel you put in the bottom.

I have clematis and small climbing roses in tubs, but they need regular feeding and lots of water. Have a look at this site for clematis. http://www.taylorsclematis.co.uk/?gclid=CIHag9Wj1roCFQ7LtAodg3AA-Q

I have Phyllis Bide in a large tub from David Austin roses. http://www.davidaustinroses.com/english/showrose.asp?showr=685

I also have Trachelospermum Jasminoides in a tub, Star Jasmine.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
