ALSTROMERIAS
When the flowers fade, do I cut down the stems or pull them from the ground?
I have read that both are correct, but which is best for the plant?

I always pull them out of the ground, was told to dry mulch them over winterhave not done it as yet......last year, in spite of the worst winter ever, they survived.
I have got my Alstromerias in pots and they are still flowering. Last year I just cut the old stems down when I saw new growth coming up. I've got new growth coming up now but I wont cut them back yet as they still have lots of flowers on them. Its all to do with this strange weather we are having. They are just a lovely plant and I wouldn't be without them.
