Unusual bush in my garden

I moved into a new home in may, it has a huge well stocked garden with full borders. There is a rather large bush in the border, it flowered around June with huge yellow flowers and the developed some rather large seed pods on the branches. Now the pods are opening and the seeds are the size of olives. Black and hard. Donay anyowho know what it is? When do I trim it back as it has really spread is summer, it currently stands over 2 meters high.

    Have you got a photo?

You can upload using the tree icon on the tool bar.

    It's not a mess, it's a nature reserve.

  • Yes they do. I will try and upload a picture of the bush later to see if it looks the same. Thanks

  • I've googled some images and yes that's my bush! As the pods are opening and seeds falling out am I best collecting them and trying to get them to germinate in the greenhouse?

collect and sow outside now Tris.

I grow mine in pots and put a layer of grit on top to weigh them down and keep the algae at may. They will germinate in spring. Sometimes they take 2 years but sown fresh usually only one.

But keep them out of the greenhouse.

And watch out for rodents, they love the seed.
