Hyacinths
There are 2 side shoots on 1 of my hyacinths. Should I remove them, and if so what's the best way to do it? All the bulbs in the bowl are growing well and evenly. It is just this 1 bulb with the side shoots. What effect will it have if I leave them grow? Thanks for advice, Mags

You might just get extra leaves, or you might get extra flowers
looks like the bulbs are developing little bulblets - that's one of the ways the plant increases. Absolutely no problem and I'd leave it alone and enjoy.
All my life I've grown forced hyacinths in the house and loved them - then when I got OH we discovered that having hyacinths in the house brings on his asthma - now I'm limited to growing hyacinths outside - lovely, but not the same - Enjoy yours
Thanks Dove. I will leave them on.
My father always grew hyacinths every Christmas and I hated the smell. He died 12 years ago, in January. Next Christmas I grew them 'for Dad' and I've loved hyacinths and grown them ever since. !!
