Does anyone know of a propagation year planner pls?

Hi everyone

Can anyone recommend a year planner I can buy or print off, that will show me month by month what plants I can take cuttings from and what sort of cuttings?

So that in April for example, I can look at the planner and it will tell me that in April I can take cuttings from plant X plant Y and plant Z and the type of cuttings they should be would be basal for plant X, layering for plant Y etc

I'm interested in ornamentals, rather than fruit and veg.

Has anyone come across anything like this please?  Many thanks!

Not exactly but I have an RHS book called the Complete Book of Plant propagation which shows how and give lists of when but organised by plant type rather than month.

You could also check out this link - http://www.thegardenersalmanac.co.uk/Indexes/index.htm - which lists what to do in the garden each month and has and alphabetical index which includes propagation, again in groups of plants rather than by month.

You could always draw up your own planner with this information.

there's a 'what to do now' at the top of the page here. You have to adapt it to fit. If it says March and you're still under snow, call it April

I would also recommend you design your own.  Gear it towards the plants in your garden by using a book, or looking them up on the internet.

Anything you download will have very many plants you don't grow.  You can also devise a separate one for sowing vegetable seeds.

I use the Which? Book of propogation which I picked up in a charity shop many years ago.

  • thanks everyone.

I am going to use the Garden Organic wall chart (The veg growers planner)as an aide memoire next year for veg, sorry can't help with a cuttings calenderimage

  • Try the Shoot gardening site. There is a ??12 per year subscription to get all the information available but you get an e-mail telling you every month what to do with every plant on your list. Well worth it.
