Red pepper problem.

Hi, could someone please give me some advice on what to do with my red pepper plant. I grew these from seed they have only grown to this stage so far.I realise that they need lots of warmth and sun, which although the weather is good for the time of year, it is not warm enough and quite cold at night. I have now  brought them into my carport but they have not grown anymore.Should i bring them into the conservatory where it is light and warm,or should i just give up on them and dump them. is it too late in the season for them to grow and ripen. I did sow the seeds a little late. many thanks Elizabeth.

Do you know the variety Elizabeth?  Are they Bell/Sweet peppers or Chillies?

No-one knows if you've done your housework, but everyone knows if you've done your gardening !
  • Hi. they are sweet peppers.

I think that they have been planted too late and are unlikely to develop any more now, they are not going to have time to grow and warm weather  to ripen,so I would just give up on them this year and plant earlier next year.

  • Yes i thought that was the problem. So i,ll just cut my losses and dump them and get more organised next year. i,ve done everything late this year lol. many thanks for your advice.

Spring was very cold as well Elizabeth, things didn't really get going till Late May.

But Elizabeth has a conservatory; I wouldn't give up on them yet, they may go through the winter.  The plant look healthy.

bring them indoors they should survive mine is.

  • Beware of whitefly if you bring them In. It can weaken the plant, you can get some rods to push into the soil that deter them ( sorry don't know name but bayer make them) they work v well and also release a few nutrients
