Nerines - so looked forward and so disappointed....!

How are your Nerines? - I bought and planted the bulbs in a large tub late spring - most came up with strong green leaves that have now withered away over the past few weeks. A few bulbs failed alltogether.... Planted in accordane with good horticultural practice - except maybe the 'compost' itself - mixed in too much sand I reckon.... so now moved into bog standard multipuprose with John Innes No3 added. Any good or should it be even more 'leaf mouldy'ish'? (never had much success with these - even when I lived in Hertfordshire - now living near the coast near Newquay, Cornwall)

on the dry side and tightly packed and well baked in summer, that keeps them happy. Mine are just starting to show flowers stems now. They're usually a bit earlier

Maybe they were too well watered as well as the dodgy compost then.....but pretty well packed in... thanks.
may take time to settle as well, give them another year.

Yeah I will - but annoyingly my local garden centres seem to be all out of flowering Nerines - reckon I looked too late aftter realising mine had failed ... its a bummer - saw some in the outside market at Truro last week -- in flower but at £6.50 a throw for a couple of stems I balked ... wish I hadn't now!!
Danny - you know that the leaves all die off before the flowers appear? Mine have all gone brown, but now the flower buds are starting to come through - still time for yours to perform yet this year
Yes, don't give up. I have some long-established nerines and the leaves all die back before there's any sign of flower buds. They may flower yet, and if not this year, then next, as they'll have been building up strength in the bulbs this year.
oooops! - and yeah I did suspect that ... now confirmed thank you (and by the Garden magazine this month - doh!) - still that a few of the bulbs had rotted off I thought they' d had it - now pulled up and in different compost! - will watch with interest but probably messed it up for this year anyway now....
