nandina

I have recently bought a nandina domestica plum passion shrub, anyone know care and over wintering for it?image

    you might need to protect it  this winter, it's not the hardiest of plants but seems to do OK once it gets established

  • Which part of the uk are you in? How sheltered is our garden - coastal, winds, frost pocket?

  • Live sussex area, garden sheltered by fence one side and established shrubs the other, end of garden open backing on to fields- but wouldn't put it there. Was thinking of putting it on patio in large pot where it is quite sheltered image

  • I'm in Essex and have had mine in a pot for years. I moved it close to the house wall in winter and it has never shown any sign of damage over winter. I planted it into the garden this summer and will be monitoring it closely this winter. I'll probably throw a piece of fleece over it if the weather forecast is bad. Let's see.....
