l have been trying to find out if l can cook up my rubarb now ?

    Its a bit late. It will probably be tough and woody at this stage. Let it die down naturally and build its strength up for next year.

    wallflower,just as fidg says,and our top allotmenteer says dont cut just let it die back naturally then a good mulch/manure ,dont let the mulch/manure touch the crowns and let the cold winter do its work, im told it originally came from Siberia where it was a highly prized dried medicine, so cold is the answer and dont forget your not supposed to eat the first years crop ,,he says and his patch is just wonderful and sweet.
