Its the end of the season. Only the queens will live over the winter.
They died on a beautiful flower tho!!
Thats it very true they did.i grew that one from seed I've waited months to see if it would grow
Nevermind, they will all be back next summer! My lavender was covered with honeybees this year, they were a treat to watch. Even my twin grandsons (aged 3 yrs) were fascinated by them. They chased a bumble bee around the garden too!
I know welsh daffodil they will all be snack next year. Are bless them chasing the bees that's what my two pups do they are also twins brother and sister.
We have seen very few honeybees this summer, and those that we have seen have been covered in varroa mite. Have had LOADS of BBs tho'. Beautiful, gentle creatures. Have seen at least 4 species, and we have 3 nests in our garden, 2 under shed and one in fruit cage. They gently buzz around my head to check me out when rasp-picking and are still busily pollinating. My 2 boys rescue them from the conservatory with a bit of jam on a finger, all by themselves now, and have never been stung. (yet!)
We are finding more dead ones now tho' so that's summer done. Can't complain, it's been a better one this yr.
Your boys are very brave gardenjeannie don't think I could do that. Your veGertrude it has been a good one this year.
BB are very gentle and unaggressive, Tracy. You could rescue them in a jar if they trapped in the house.
