Hello everyone!

I planted quite a few Calendula plants this year and they have all been producing some lovely flowers. One in particular though has done something a little unusual.....

I've never seen anything like this before - is it normal?

Many thanks

Liz

There used to be a poppy called hen and chickens that used to do that. You could save the seed and see if it does it next year, or it may just be  like fasciation, caused by aphid damage of the growing point.

You don't stop doing new things because you get old, you get old because you stop doing new things. <3

this sort of growth is known as 'Hen and Chickens',

  • Thanks both of you, I've never heard of that, I shall look it up.

I did have a bit of an aphid problem with some of the plants although strangely I think this was one that they ignored. image

I have something like this happening to my calendula. Some new grows from a center, one from a side. One plant affected and another not. On affected one not all are "obnormal" but something like 49%. I joined this conversation because I was pazzled and searched online if anybody seen something like this.
