cherry laurel
I was going to put up a trellis to act as as a screen from next door, but with the problems cost and getting one made to fit I have decided to put up hedging,
has anyone got a cherry laurel in the garden and will it do the job of screening.

I agree,.you'd do better with something you can trim to the shape you want with a hedge trimmer. Laurels need pruning with secateurs otherwise you get brown edges to those large leaves. Something with small leaves makes a better hedge.
Privet still has a place. Not very exciting but it does the job.
