I have an Albertine Rose which only seems to grow sucker and perhaps one branch that flowers. Do they go like this or is there something I can do.

Are the suckers coming from below ground or below the graft (the knobbly bit near the ground)? Do the stems and leaves look different from the part that does flower?
If yes to both of these then the bits that are different and come from underground or below the graft are not Albertine. They are taking the strength away from the true Albertine and will eventually take it over.
If so, get a large, sharp knife and cut the suckers off where they join the root. You might have to scrape a little soil away to see that clearly.
I have Albertina ,you need to cut the suckers out ,6 leaved spindly growth, water well and feed ,dont prune too virgorous.
The suckers are coming from way up the bush not from the ground. Perhaps I cut it back too much last year!!!
Suckers can only come from below the graft. If you've got a sucker starting half way up the bush then the bit it's growing from is a sucker.
Can you take a photo to show what's happening here.
And waterbutts asked about the leaves looking different. Do they?
