Blind Hydrangea

Can anyone advise me please?

My hydrangea is in between a red currant bush and a 6x6 foot blue lace cap hydrangea she flowered last year, but hasn't this year.  She is covered in leaves but no buds at all, and my lace cap hydrangea has only had a quarter of it covered in flowers. 

Any advice would be appreciated.

    Did you prune it too late Daffodilgirl?  I generally prune mine early spring and cut down to a pair of strong buds and remove any dead or damaged wood.

    Maybe too heavy prune or lack of water maybe needs a potash feed ( comfrey) its cheap

    I have flowers this year but not nearly as big as they usually are.  I have put it down to the hot summer.  They like lots of water.
